TEGA CAY -- Residents will soon have a few more dining choices as the first phase of Stonecrest continues to fill up.

Three new eateries are scheduled to open in the coming weeks and months, and Developer Herman Stone is considering turning one of the existing out parcels into another small retail strip to provide space for more restaurants, according to Parker Volmer of the Tuttle Co.

"We're thinking about making it a three-tenant building because we can't put any more restaurant spaces in the in-line buildings there now," Volmer said.

On the way are Buffalo Wings and Rings, a national sports bar-style chain, Donato's Pizza, which will be run by Siler Chapman, who has a restaurant in Indian Land, and The Station Bar and Grill, which will be the Rock Hill-based restaurant's second location.

"Buffalo Wings and Rings is a Midwest concept franchise," Volmer said. "In the evening they will have live music."

Station owner Debbie Coccia is excited about the new location. She and husband David have been in the restaurant business 13 years as of last Friday. Their first restaurant was D.C. Stickies on Main Street in Rock Hill; they opened the Station five years ago on Charlotte Avenue near Dave Lyle Boulevard.

"We've always wanted a second location," Coccia said. "It just took us a long time to find the right site."

The area's growing population and Tega Cay's laws that allow Sunday alcohol sales made Stonecrest the perfect location, she said. Initially the restaurant will be open Monday through Saturday, but Coccia said it will eventually have Sunday hours as well. The couple hopes to open the new Station within the next two weeks.

"With a restaurant, you want to open as quietly as possible because all of your efforts are on display 24/7," Coccia said. "People don't eat out somewhere [only] because they're hungry. They're looking for the experience. We need to make sure everything is up to our standards."

The Coccias pride themselves on their eclectic menu, which includes soups, salads, sandwiches, rice and noodle bowls and entrees offering nearly every style of seafood except fried. They plan to use the same menu at both restaurants, but may make some changes to meet customer demands, she said.

And training staff will be easier this time around, she added. When the couple opened the Rock Hill location they didn't have anywhere else to train staff, but with the Stonecrest site, they will be able to train employees in Rock Hill before sending them across the river. The couple has already chosen a management team, but there are still positions available for other employees. In particular they are looking for experienced line cooks. The restaurant will employ 25-30 workers.

With the restaurants on the way, Volmer said, only four spots are left in the existing in-line buildings at Stonecrest. One 1,570-square-foot space is still available in the first building and two 1,200-square-foot spaces and a 2,800-square-foot space are still open in the second building. Also, a wine shop has signed a letter of intent for a 1,270-square-foot space in the first building, but Volmer did not name the company because the lease contract hasn't been signed.
