Spaugh, Kirby marry

Whitney Patricia Spaugh of Fort Mill and Nicholas Anderson Kirby of Columbia were married June 27, 2009, at Spring Valley Presbyterian Church in Columbia.

The bride is the daughter of Bill and Debbie Spaugh of Fort Mill and the groom's parents are Kevin and Susan Kirby of Columbia.

The Revs. Hayes Noble and Erik Dailey performed the double-ring ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a strapless, satin beaded gown with lace overlay. She wore a fingertip veil with pearl beading. She carried a bouquet of white hydrangeas tied with heirloom handkerchiefs that were given by the groom's mother.

Maid of honor was Meagan Gail Butler, who wore a floor-length black halter dress with a satin tie at the waist. Bridesmaids were Sara Elizabeth Kay and Kristi Gilstrap Clements, both of Columbia, Sydney Taylor Baker, the bride's cousin, of Fort Mill, and Amber Sanders Pearson of Pelzer. They wore black, floor-length halter-style gowns.

Thomas Patrick Kirby, the groom's brother, of Columbia, was the best man. Ushers and groomsmen were Patrick Hamilton West, Kurt Miller Owings and Christopher William Hill, all of Spartanburg, and Matthew David Pepin of Columbia.

A reception was held at Columbia Country Club.

After a wedding trip to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, the couple settled in Belton.

The bride graduated in 2007 with a degree in elementary education from Anderson University. She is employed with Anderson School District Two.

The groom graduated in 2008 with a degree in Christian ministries. He is employed with Cobb's Glenn Country Club while he is completing his master of divinity degree.
