Kids took cover after tornado warning
Fort Mill Township -- School children across the township huddled in hallways and other designated safe areas midmorning Monday as a line of strong thunderstorms blew through the region.
Fort Mill Town Hall closed at around 11:30 a.m. Staff and some residents took cover in the lower part of the building, where the police department and town court is located, until the all clear was given at about 12:30 p.m. The storm past through to Charlotte without incident.
Fort Mill schools held annual tornado and earthquake drills last month, according to Fort Mill School District spokesman, Bob Ormseth.
