The Fort Mill Middle School Band performed "... in my perfect place" for the first time publicly at the Fort Mill Middle School Band Concert last week at Nation Ford High School auditorium.

The piece was commissioned by the band as a tribute to former student Jenna Witherspoon, who died of cancer in 2006. Summerville High School Band Director Leslie Gilbreath composed the music based on some of Witherspoon's poetry and her classmates' memories of her, according to Fort Mill Middle School Band Director Connie Grant.
