1988
• The York County Legislative Delegation turned down a request from the Fort Mill School District for a one-time extra millage increase.
• The Fort Mill High School girls track team, coached by Steve Mullinax, completed its conference schedule with a 7-0 record.
• A house being moved from Skipper Avenue to Steele Street was transported up Main Street, causing some delays.
1968
• Linda Leslie was crowned as the new Miss Fort Mill. Linda Merritt was named Miss Congeniality.
• Staff Sgt. Larry D. Haire, twice wounded and frequently decorated while serving in Vietnam, lost his life in a private boating accident on the Potomac River.
• Steve Funderburk and Regina Stables were crowned as King and Queen of the Fort Mill High School Junior-Senior Prom.
• A soaking rain ended the spring-long drought which had laid siege to Fort Mill for many weeks.
1948
• The Fort Mill School Chorus, under the direction of Mrs. Richard Hutchison, performed a 30-minute show over Rock Hill radio station WTYC.
• South Carolina was the only Southeastern state to show an increase in manufacturing employment over the wartime peak of November 1943.
1928
• Harriet Carothers, a student in the ninth grade at Fort Mill High School, won the Spelling Championship of York County. Frances Foster, also of Fort Mill, won the grammar grade championship.
• The Fort Mill Town Council granted a request from the local National Guard company to erect lights at the old baseball field in Whiteville Park.
1908
• The closing exercises of the Fort Mill Graded School took place at Town Hall. The pupils were treated to a picnic dinner.
• The new Flint Hill Baptist Church, located in the upper part of Fort Mill Township, was dedicated.
