Police blotter - June 25, 2008

Pot bust

A Fort Mill man and a Rock Hill man were arrested for possession with intent to distribute marijuana at the intersection of Hwy. 160 and Hwy. 21 on Tuesday, June 17, according to a Fort Mill Police Department report.

Philip Watts Sr., 53, of 217 Smith St. in Fort Mill and Royal Porter, 23, of Montclair Drive in Rock Hill, were pulled over after an officer noticed that Watts' left rear break light was out. The report stated that the officer ran a license check and Watts' license was suspended by the DMV for cancellation of insurance. The officer detained Watts and searched Porter. The officer said Porter was detained because he had no explanation for why he was carrying a stack of $20 bills.

After a search of the vehicle, the officer allegedly found 87 grams of marijuana in a plastic bag the officer said was inside of a sock that was inside of another plastic bag that was under the front passenger side seat.

Jewlery stolen

Jewelry belonging to a man and woman who live in Tega Cay was stolen from their home on Molokai Drive on Thursday, June 19, according to a Tega Cay Police Department report.

The report stated that $11,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from the couple's master bedroom while painters were working inside of the home. One of the workers became a suspect after allegedly saying he was going to the store for cigarettes and never returned to the home. The owner of the company told police he has tried to reach the suspect, but he has not been located.

Food stolen

A worker from a business on Fort Mill Parkway was terminated after being accused of stealing numerous amounts of food sometime between Friday, Jan. 4, and Friday, June 20, according to A York County Sheriff's Office report. The report stated that the worker, who has not been located, has stolen $3,700 worth of food.

Home burglarized

A home in a new housing development in Tega Cay was burglarized on Monday, June 16, according to a Tega Cay Police Department report. The report stated that a man and woman were seen taking a dishwasher from the home and loading it onto a champagne-colored vehicle.
