• The Tega Cay Rescue Squad, inactive since June 1 due to a lack of trained volunteers, planned to reactivate.
• George Rhinehardt, owner of George's Flower Shop in Fort Mill, was elected president of the South Carolina Florists Association.
• Richard Bates, Bob Jolley and incumbent J. Spratt White were considering a run for the Fort Mill school board.
1968
• The town council and the board of trustees of the Fort Mill schools voted to ban parking in the 100 block of Monroe White Street
during school hours.
• Bobby White of Fort Mill was named Most Valuable Player at the Lefty Driesell Basketball Camp at Davidson College.
• Herbert D. Phillips, former Fort Mill police officer, reported for duty as a South Carolina Highway Patrolman. Trooper Phillips was stationed in Chester.
• Fort Mill Head Football Coach Bob Jones welcomed more than 70 prospects for the start of football practice.
1948
• Baseball fans in Fort Mill and around the world mourned the passing of Babe Ruth. More than 100,000 fans viewed his body at Yankee Stadium.
• Joe M. Belk of Fort Mill was named to York County's three-man draft board.
1928
• J.W. Blackwelder succeeded Meacham Thrower as town plumber of Fort Mill.
• Farmers of the Fort Mill community were attempting their first try at tobacco farming. They had fair success considering their inexperience.
1908
• R.G. Kendrick Jr., of Louisiana assisted the Rev. E.S. Reaves in a revival meeting. It was reported that much good had been accomplished.
• The board of trustees of Winthrop College offered 24 dining room scholarships to be presented to students who would pay their college expenses, except for their uniforms, by working in the dining room.
