A Lancaster County man died Wednesday in a wreck on I-77 near the state line, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Eddie McCullough Sr., 56, of Van Wyck died from injuries received in the wreck, York County interim coroner Sabrina Gast said. McCullough, who wore a seat belt, died at the scene, she said.

A toxicology test will be done, Gast said.

The wreck happened around 3:45 p.m. along northbound I-77 near the 90-mile marker, according to the Highway Patrol.

McCullough's car rear-ended a truck that had stalled in one of the lanes, said Lance Cpl. Jeff Gaskin of the Highway Patrol. The driver of the truck had tried to exit the interstate but couldn't because of traffic, Gaskin said. That driver was not injured.
