Joseph A. Gulasky: 'He made things happen'
A helping spirit. A willing heart. A go-getter.
That's how some people describe Joseph A. Gulasky. The Tega Cay man died last week, days shy of celebrating his 39th wedding anniversary.
"I'm going to miss him," Sue Gulasky said of her husband. "We had a wonderful life together. We were soul mates."
The Virginia native and former long-standing member of the Tega Cay Planning Commission was 66 years old.
A memorial service is slated for this week at Grace Presbyterian Church, where Gulasky was a charter member.
He also formerly served as president of the Tega Cay Lions Club and was a realtor/broker with Allen Tate Realty.
But he was known for his passion for helping others, Sue Gulasky said.
"He cared about other people before he cared about himself," she said.
"He was always willing to give what he had. If there was someone in need, he was always there to help."
No matter what the need, she said.
Down time was devoted to his family and his passion for golfing and fishing, she said. Gulasky also was a Carolina Panther fan, she said.
"He always watched the games on television," she said. "He always wore his Panthers hat and shirt when he watched them play," she said.
Gulasky, also a member of the Tega Cay Vintage Club, had a deep love for his community.
"He was an outstanding citizen and a pleasure to be associated with," Tega Cay Mayor Bob Runde said.
Gulasky was a man who knew no boundaries when it came to tackling tasks, Runde said.
"He was never afraid to take on a task," Runde said.
"He was a go-getter. He made things happen. He was a good man and (his death) is a definite loss to the city of Tega Cay."
A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Grace Presbyterian. Friends will be received following the service.
