Willis finishes freshman year
David Willis, a graduate of Fort Mill High, recently completed his freshman year at Eastern Kentucky University by finishing fourth in the 1,500- meters at the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championship held in Cape Girardeau, MO. Other highlights of the outdoor season included winning the 1,500-meters and finishing second in the 800-meters at the University of the Cumberlands meet. He posted a season best time of 4:00.28 in the 1,500-meters during a meet in Cincinnati. He was recently named to the Dean's List and was also named as a Colonel Scholar.
Offensive line camp Saturday
Nation Ford High school will host a one day camp for offensive linemen May 24 at the school. Registration is between 8-9 a.m. with the camp ending near 4 p.m. Bring tennis shoes in case of rain. Kick off summer
The Tega Cay Parks and Recreation Committee is hosting a Kick Off The Summer Bash from 5-7 p.m. May 31 at Runde Park. The event will consist of food vendors, games/prizes, jump castles, music and free giveaways. All families that participated in our spring sports programs are invited. Golf tourney
The Fort Mill chapter of Beta Sigma Phi is hosting its second Annual Charity Golf Tournament June 6 at the Tega Cay Golf Club. The tournament will benefit the Fort Mill School District. All monies raised through the tournament will go to the education foundation and will stay in the Fort Mill School District to help students or teachers. The tournament is open to all levels and will even have a youth golfing section so everyone can participate.If you are interested in playing in the tournament, call Lisa Crutchfield at 802-0517.
Yellow Jackets football camp
The Fort Mill varsity football coaches and players will hold a football camp for elementary and middle school age kids. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon June 9-12 for those rising fourth graders and fifth graders and June 16-19 for those in middle school. This camp will focus on the basics of football including receiving, tackling (with dummies), pursuing, throwing, kicking, running, and punting. Athletes will participate in "team concept" football: they will learn how to line up in the base sets of the Fort Mill offense and defense, and learn the proper drills that go along with the schemes. The camp is a non-contact camp. The total cost is $125 and the camp will be at the Fort Mill practice fields. For more information, contact Joey Blathen at 548-3516 or go to rec@tegacaysc.org.
