Artists needed for contest
Art on Main, a local festival held in the fall, is holding a student illustration contest. The theme is a children's picture book by Derick Wilder titled "My Superest Superheroes."
All entries will be displayed in the "My Superest Superheroes" section of Art on Main. Winning entries will be awarded ribbons and the artists' names will be published in the Fort Mill Times and announced during the show, Saturday, Oct. 11. Reid graduates
Riley Reid graduated cum laude from Coastal Carolina University May 10. She graduated from the Wall College of Business with a BS in business administration with an emphasis in resort and tourism management. She is the daughter of Bob and Terri Reid of Fort Mill and the granddaughter of Bob and Vera Reid of Fort Mill and Myriam Riley and the late Edd Riley of Lexington.
Local students excel at Coastal Carolina
The following local students earned Dean's List status at Coastal Carolina University for the spring 2008 semester: Heather Davidson, Kristen Kilheeney, Jeffrey Lucas II, Christina McCluskey, Mary-Grace Skidmore, Trisha Starnes, Fort Mill Heather Kecken and Alexandria Lucia, all of Fort Mill, and Stephen Fischer of Tega Cay.
To qualify for the Dean's List, freshmen must earn a 3.25 grade-point average and upperclassmen must earn a 3.5 grade-point average; students must be enrolled full time.
Yarnell graduates
Tyler Jordan Yarnell graduated May 9 from the University of South Carolina. He is the son of Kellye Yarnell and David Yarnell, both of Fort Mill.
Yarnell graduated cum laude earning a Bachelor of Science in business administration with a major in finance.
A 2004 graduate of Fort Mill High School, he is the grandson of Frank and Frances Yarnell and Henry and Pat Smith all of Maryville, Tenn.
Price graduates
Richard G. Price of Fort Mill graduated May 2 from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh with a Master of Environmental Management degree. He is a graduate of both York Tech (Associate in Science) and Clemson University (Bachelor of Science)and is employed by Duke Energy in Charlotte.
Claypool, Dorfer on Dean's List
Michael Kevin Claypool, Meredith Lyn Dorfer, both of Fort Mill, made the Dean's List at Lenoir-Rhyne College for the 2008 spring semester.
