1988

• Richard Horstman of Charlotte was named the planner and code enforcement officer for Tega Cay.

• The Fort Mill Volunteer Fire Department received the keys to a new 1988 fire truck, a 1,000 gallon tanker. The new truck replaced a 1972 tanker.

• Honda Cars of Rock Hill was selling new, 1988 Accords for as low as $12,368.

• The Fort Mill Area Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the Fort Mill High School FFA chapter, placed new welcome signs at entrances into Fort Mill and also placed 18 flower boxes on Main Street.

1968

• After a week of refusing to report to work, Fort Mill garbage collectors agreed to resume their duties when the town council approved a pay hike.

• The Town of Fort Mill granted a cable TV franchise to Palmetto Cable of Rock Hill.

• The senior class at Fort Mill High announced their superlatives. Sheila Perry and Johnny Martin were the couple that enjoyed life most and Vicki Massey and Bob Reid were the class loafers.

• John E. Sutton of Fort Mill won a seven-day Florida vacation in a contest sponsored by the Chester Theater.

1948

• Two new businesses opened in Fort Mill. Love and Hood Radio and Appliance Service opened on Main Street and Bradford's Men's Store located on Confederate Street.

• Fort Mill's two movie theaters, the Center and the Majestic, were purchased by Everet Enterprises of Charlotte. The Center was to show first run movies while the Majestic would run "B" movies.

1928

• The Fort Mill Boy Scouts troop was reorganized with 25 members and with Lee Carothers and M.B. Brissie as scoutmasters.

• W.R. Bradford of Fort Mill, a director of the South Carolina penitentiary, attended the annual meeting of the American Prison Association in Kansas City, Mo.

1908

• Owing to a delayed shipment of building material, work on the new storehouse of the Parks Drug Company was at a standstill.

• The local dramatic club began rehearsal of a play, "The Honors of a Cowboy."
