Lady Jackets, Falcons square off
Crosstown rival girls high school basketball teams Fort Mill and Nation Ford will play their final matchup of the season Friday night on Nation Ford's home court at 6:30 p.m.
The Yellow Jackets lost to York 30-53 and Gaffney 31-40 last week to fall to 2-20 overall and 0-8 in the league.
Nation Ford continued its winning streak last week defeating Gaffney 40-27, reversing a loss from earlier in the season. The Lady Falcons also defeated Clover 52-44.
The Lady Falcons pushed their record to 13-4 overall and 5-1 in the region.
Start training for triathlon at the Y
Triathlon Training at the Fort Mill YMCA begins Tuesday, Feb. 17. Sessions will be offered Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. or 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 8 a.m.
This 10-week course will prepare athletes for the 2009 fourth annual "POWERADE Tri the Rock" event in May. The cost for the program is $59 for members and $69 for non-members. Call 548-8020.
Storm holds fundraiser
The 12U SC Storm will be holding a barbecue and silent auction fundraiser from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20 at the Field Trial Barn off Springfield Parkway in Fort Mill.
The SC Storm will be the eighth team from Fort Mill to receive an invitation to play in the Cooperstown Field of Dreams Tournament in Coopers-town, NY., June 13-20.
Youth hoop tryouts offered
