BacInTyme celebrates a year to remember
At a time when some businesses were closing their doors because of a poor economy, BacInTyme Coffee Cafe opened its doors and has helped to usher in a revitalization of downtown Fort Mill and a surge in arts appreciation in the community.
On Saturday, BacInTyme will celebrate one year in business and, according to owner Georgia Harper Ehrenberg, a year of successes.
"I put together a three-year business plan," Ehrenberg said, "And we've accomplished more in one year than I could ever imagine. I think we're about a year ahead of schedule."
To celebrate the anniversary, the coffee shop will host live music throughout the day.
In true BacInTyme fashion, the celebration won't be limited to its Confederate Street location, but will instead spill over onto Main Street, where Storm Hamble, of Storm Dancer Studios, will hold a charity raffle and open house, including wine and hors d'oeuvres.
The Art Mill will also be open from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for an "All Member Show," where all members of the Fort Mill Art Guild will have the opportunity to display and sell their artwork.
"It's Fort Mill's first ever gallery crawl. It's going to be so cool," said Art Guild founder Marcia Buike.
Buike credits Ehrenberg and BacInTyme for helping promote the arts in Fort Mill. BacInTyme is filled with art from local and national artists, and has given many first-time artists the opportunity to display their work. The coffee shop has also hosted poetry readings, a variety of musical acts and a drum circle over the past year.
Supporting the arts, as well as her support of local charities, is part of the BacInTyme business plan, Ehrenberg said.
"It's just what we're supposed to be doing," she added. "We try to encourage everyone to follow their dream."
The BacInTyme anniversary celebration begins at 2 p.m. with musician Barrie Howard. At 6 p.m., musicians Angie Medlin and Tom Williams will take the stage.
