Fort Mill's Rogers to kick off House campaign

- The Herald

Fort Mill native Greg Rogers will formally declare his bid for the state House next week, adding his name to what could be a crowded field of contenders.

Rogers, a partner in a development firm run by York County Councilman Paul Lindemann, plans a campaign event Monday at 12:30 p.m. at Hall Dielectric Machinery of Rock Hill.

Rogers is among the Republicans vying to replace Rep. Carl Gullick, R-Lake Wylie, who plans to resign this summer and move to Kentucky, where his wife has taken a new job.

Also expected to run are Roger Costner, founder and CEO of Brothers Air and Heat; and Sammy Rhodes, owner of a Rock Hill-based billboard company.

On the Democratic side, Pansy King-Reid of Fort Mill declared her bid last month. A Chester native, King-Reid is the sister of state Rep. John King, now serving his first term in the House.

Rogers touts his lifelong ties to York County. A Winthrop University graduate, Rogers grew up in Tega Cay and attended Fort Mill High School. He recently re-started a Fort Mill chapter of the Jaycees organization.
