Drivers: Pay what you owe
Our schools are having budget problems, cutting out programs, charging student fees, etc.
Have you noticed all of the vehicles in our school district with out of state tags? As we look at our county tax bills, we see that a large amount of the tag fee goes to our schools. If all of these vehicles were registered in South Carolina, it would amount of a large amount of money.
The money our school district would receive would help very much on our school budget.
The owners of these vehicles may or may not be paying taxes in states listed on the tags, but our schools are not getting any money from these vehivles. We had the same problem in the 1980s. Thanks to Jerry McGuire , who was the editor of the Fort Mill Times at that time, for his effort in addressing this problem.
Maybe our school officials, law enforcement and the Fort Mill Times could take a look at this problem.
How many out of state tags have you seen lately?
