At least 13 vehicles were broken into in Tega Cay between Friday night and Sunday morning, according to a series of Tega Cay Police Department reports.
The thieves appeared to target unlocked cars parked in peoples driveways, the reports indicate. The crimes took place on Deep Cove Drive, Cascading Pine Drive, Cattail Bluff Drive, Shoreline Parkway and Windsong Bay Lane.
Were certainly looking at option that theyre related since occurred around the same time, said Tega Cay Police Capt. Dave Nelson.
Altogether, 13 vehicle break-ins were reported by midday Sunday. In one case, the thieves stole the vehicle when they found an extra set of keys inside, the report states. The stolen vehicle is a 2007 blue Ford F-150 pickup truck, the report states. It is valued at $19,000.
Police in Georgia are holding a man they found a man driving that stolen car, Nelson said. Tega Cay police say he could be a person of interest in these break-ins.
In other cases, thieves stole GPS systems, a radio, an iPod, a computer, cash and several purses and other items. The missing items have a combined valued at more than $3,000, according to reports.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
