Shoplifting charge

A North Carolina man was arrested Dec. 27 and charged with shoplifting more than $600 worth of items from a Fort Mill pharmacy, according to a Fort Mill Police Department report.

James Franklin Farris, 21 of 1621 Nottingham Drive, Gastonia, N.C., was stopped by police who said he was in possession of personal care items, over-the-counter drugs, a hooded sweatshirt and other items allegedly stolen from the store.

Man requests

restraining order

A Fort Mill man called police on Dec. 26 to complain that a woman he knows, also a Fort Mill resident, was harassing him by either calling or texting him 753 times that same day.

The man, 29, told police that the woman, 29, started contacting him after an unspecified incident earlier that day, according to the report. He requested a restraining order and was advised by police how the procedure works.

No charges were filed.

Cars burglarized

Two cars were broken into and entered Dec. 22 on Sentinel Way. One was a 2003 Acura at 8:45 p.m. The owner said a jacket, debit card, credit card and radar detector were stolen.

The other was a Hyundai from which wrapped Christmas presents stored in the locked trunk were taken.

Also, 2003 Chevy Silverado parked at an Orchard Drive home was broken into Dec. 19.

Filters pilfered

Someone stole 400 to 500 pounds of used auto oil filters were stolen from an auto shop on Tom Hall Street in Fort Mill Dec. 13, according to a report. The filters had an estimated total value of $100.

Tega Cay man faces

domestic abuse charge

A 40-year-old Tega Cay man faces domestic violence charges after his wife told police he attacked her when she tried to leave their home, according to a Tega Cay Police report.

Police were called to the Tega Cay residence at 4:30 a.m. Dec. 17. The wife, 40, told police she was trying to leave the house when her husband became angry and knocked her to the floor and held her around her face to prevent her from leaving, the report states. She told police she bit her husband to get free.

The man denied harming his wife, the report states, but he was arrested and charged with domestic violence.

Toys stolen from Walmart

Two unidentified men allegedly stole a pair of remote control cars from the Tega Cay Walmart, according to a Tega Cay Police report.

A greeter at the store flagged down police at 10 p.m. Dec. 21 to report the crime. The clerk told police one man walked out of the store without paying for the merchandise and told the greeter his accomplice had a receipt. But the second man only stopped long enough for the man with the toys to exit the store, then he fled, too, according to the report. No arrests were made.

Teens vandalize Christmas decorations

A group of teenagers vandalized Christmas decorations at two Tega Cay homes, according to a Tega Cay Police report.

A 57-year-old Anchorage Lane resident reported the crimes at 9:30 p.m. Dec. 22. He told police a group of at least three teenagers were seen knocking over three Christmas trees in is yard and attempting to deflate some other decorations, the report states. The man told police the teens also knocked over decorations in a neighbor’s yard, including re-arranging a group of reindeer and stacking them on top of each other, according to the report.

Damage is estimated at $200. The vandals were not located.
