Teen accused of having pot on campus
A Fort Mill High School student has been charged with possession of pot after police say they found the illegal drug in her possession on school grounds, according to a Fort Mill Police report.
The report states the teen, 17-year-old Bailey Nicole Sowka, of Tega Cay, was arrested around 1:30 p.m. April 11 for allegedly possessing about three grams of a substance believed to be cannabis, according to the police report, which did not provide any other details.
Cell phone stolen at NFHS
Police are investigating a report that a student’s cell phone was stolen at Nation Ford High School, according to a Fort Mill Police report.
The alleged theft happened sometime between 3 and 4 p.m. April 10 at Nation Ford High. A 17-year-old male student told police he was on his way to after-school detention when he noticed a touch-screen cell phone was missing from his backpack. The phone is valued at $150. He told police he believes it was stolen during his last class of the day. Police searched the campus for possible witnesses but could not locate anyone from the class. The case is under investigation.
Police reports of all felonies and any major misdemeanors are compiled weekly from local law enforcement agency records. Charges do not necessarily result in a conviction, and people who are arrested are innocent until proven guilty.

Power tools stolen
Nearly $6,000 in tools and equipment was stolen from a Fort Mill contracting company in the last week, police say.
A supervisor with S & K Contractors Inc. reported tools had been stolen from a box truck at the Williams Road location, according to a York County Sheriff’s Office report. He believes the incident occurred sometime between Tuesday of last week and Tuesday morning of this week.
It appears someone cut the lock one of the company box trucks, taking several saws, drills, pressure washers, cable trim guns and an air compressor from it, the report states.
The previous night, an employee had received a phone call from someone who said they needed to check the equipment when they went to work the next day, according to the report.
The supervisor and an employee believe a former employee or some of that employee’s associates might have taken the tools, the report states.
While searching the area, deputies found part of the lock in a wooded area, the report states. The supervisor has agreed to step up security.
