INMAN --
With a 6-2 loss in an elimination game to Chapman, the Nation Ford Lady Falcons’ dream of repeating as state champions came to a fitful end.
Having already dropped a game to Daniel in the Upper State playoff bracket, Nation Ford had been fighting for its life the past week and finally had the plug pulled on its season.
Chapman scored first with two runs in the bottom of the first, but Nation Ford was able to get one back in the bottom of the second inning.
However, pitching struggles continued to plague Nation Ford as senior Bradlee Holeman would last only two innings allowing just two hits, but walking six and allowing four earned runs. Holeman ended her season with an 18-7 record.
Chapman would add two more runs in the third and fourth innings as they would go up 6-1.
Nation Ford had just five hits in the game with senior Zharne Glover leading the way going 2-3 as her and fellow senior Donna Hollingsworth each hit doubles to try and spark some life into the Lady Falcons.
Nation Ford struggled in the field as well making three errors and left three runners on base.
The Lady Falcons ended their season with a 24-7 record.
