After reading the “On my mind” column in the May 23 edition of the Fort Mill Times, I simply cannot restrain myself. “Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.” This openly biased attack by James Werrell on Mr. Romney makes my blood boil. For crying out loud, this supposed “crime” happened nearly 50 years ago.
During that time, Ted Kennedy, a Democrat, managed to abandon a drowning woman (Reminder: not his wife) in a sinking automobile. Rep. Barney Frank, a Democrat, had a “partner/roommate” running a brothel out of their shared apartment.
Presidents John Fitzgerald Kennedy and William Jefferson Clinton, both Democrats, were engaging in extramarital affairs in the White House. The “exalted one” (“We are the ones we’ve been waiting for”), Barack Hussein Obama, was (according to his own words) “enthusiastically” snorting cocaine and smoking marijuana on many occasions. I thought this was an actual crime, even at that point in time. Any real proof that this ever stopped?
And the supposed “crime” Mr. Romney committed? Forcibly trimming a classmate’s hair.
Mr. Werrell’s over-the-top bias is showing. Personally, I can overlook the dope, the association with an admitted domestic terrorist, the 20-plus year association with an anti-American preacher, the surrender of the American automobile industry to the labor unions, the open disdain for America exhibited by his wife and a plethora of lies and excuses made while attempting to blame others for his positions.
What I can’t overlook is his record of massive spending and anti-American statements. Funny thing, Mr. Obama’s record is the one thing he refuses to discuss and defend. Why? Because he can’t.
He has done more damage to this country than any other president in history. Some would say he is ignorant and has failed miserably. I take exception to that. He and his progressive contemporaries have been extremely successful in dragging the economy to the brink of collapse, which has been their intended result.
Between Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” and a radical Weather Underground position paper, “You don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows,” co-written by his old friend, Bill Ayers and his wife Bernardine Dohrn, it would appear that the current administration is solidly on the path of bringing this country to its knees.
If you have chosen to ignore those radical positions, consider yourself warned. Among the stated goals of both organizations is a collapse of the capitalist system and replacing it with a “state controlled” socialist state. One small problem! As Margaret Thatcher once said, “The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money.”
Socialism has never been successful anywhere in the world. Just ask the Greeks.
Now, I know many on the left will jump to defend President Obama. OK, let the “progressives,” the ones who decided not to abort their unborn children, explain to them why they are saddled with an unsustainable debt, a sadly weakened military, a crumbling job market and a myriad of other crises.
Ask most of the recent graduates why they can’t find any kind of employment remotely related to their field of study. Ask them why 85 percent of recent college graduates are moving back home with their parents.
All this baloney about “a level playing field” is just that – baloney! The field is more “level” than at any time in our history. Perhaps Mr. Werrell can rationalize in his own mind his attack on Mr. Romney for a singular action that occurred as a teenager. Really! A crime? But can he truly rationalize Mr. Obama’s repeated and ongoing indiscretions? Don’t even think about Attorney General Eric Holder and his obvious disregard for the very Constitution he and President Obama were sworn to defend.
