Matienzos celebrate 50 years

Mr. and Mrs. Demetrio and Mercedes Matienzo of Fort Mill celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their children, relatives and friends on June 3, 2012.

A ceremony and renewal of vows was held at St. Anne Catholic Church in Rock Hill, followed by a reception at the Tega Cay Golf and Conference Center.

Family and friends from San Francisco and Oakland; Ontario, Canada; New York, New Jersey, Charleston, Rock Hill, Charlotte, Columbia and good neighbors from Fort Mill were all in attendance to share in the celebration and joy of the loving couple.

Their children are Alan Matthew Matienzo of Columbia and Dean Mark Matienzo and wife Anne of Lake Hopatcong, N.J. They also have two grandchildren – Emily and Allison Matienzo of New Jersey.

Mr. Matienzo, a retired veteran of U.S. Navy of 21 years, also worked for the federal service for 15 years, as well as for Charleston County for 10 years. Mrs. Matienzo, a retired registered nurse, continues to be a devoted wife to her beloved husband of 50 years.

The Matienzos have been very active with local community services and charities, specifically with the United States Veterans and resided in Charleston for 38 years before moving to and retiring in Fort Mill in 2006.
