Ficklen, Copeland wed

Lauren Elizabeth Ficklen of Fort Mill and Garrett Alexander Copeland of Fort Mill were married June 23, 2012, at the Daniel Chapel of Furman University in Greenville.

Matt Rogers of Renewal Church officiated the noon ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Benjamin Ficklen of Fort Mill. She graduated in December 2011 from Clemson University and will begin teaching second grade at Fork Shoals School in Greenville in August.

The groom is the son of Jo-Ellen Trecartin Copeland and Gregory Copeland of Fort Mill. He graduated in December 2011 from Furman University with a degree in Accounting. He will begin working on his Masters of Accountancy through Clemson University in August and will start working full-time as an auditor for Deloitte & Touche in September 2013.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. She wore her mother’s floor-length natural white A-line wedding gown of lace with cap-sleeves and a cathedral train. Mecklenburg Bridal of Pineville restored the thirty-year-old dress and veil. Lauren carried a traditional hand tied bouquet of pale pink peonies and white garden roses.

Matron of honor was Jennifer Ficklen Moody, sister of the bride, of Greenville. Maid of honor was Caroline Ficklen, sister of the bride, of Fort Mill. Bridesmaids were Savannah Copeland, sister of the groom, of Fort Mill, Meghan Marr of Fort Mill, Rebecca Deery of Greenville, Jennifer Moore of Clemson, and Nathalie Matthews of Columbia. They wore knee-length silk chiffon strapless gowns with sweetheart bodices in new blush.

Junior bridesmaid was Kara Copeland, sister of the groom, of Fort Mill. Honorary bridesmaids were Keller Anne Bumgardner of Memphis, Brinley Standifer and Merry Mac Miller, both of Lakeland, Fla.

Best man was Scott Copeland, brother of the groom, of Fort Mill. Groomsmen were Tyler Moody, brother-in-law of the bride, of Greenville, Jonathan Romano of Fort Mill, Cameron Franklin of Fort Mill, Rob Picardi of Boston, Chris Picardi of Boston, and Chris Toler of Indianapolis.

Ushers were Lee Deneen of Columbia, John Dubose Murphy of Columbia, and Mark Jacobs of Nashville.

A reception was held at the Twigs Tempietto garden and terrace. The newlyweds honeymooned in Aruba and are settled in Greenville.
