1992

• York County Sheriff George Eaton and former Chief Deputy Joe Mitchell both won easy victories in the primary election for Sheriff of York County.

• Citing impossible conditions due to construction, the Fort Mill Post Office suspended mail delivery to a portion of Pleasant Road.

• Two Fort Mill boys, Mike Cartner and Richards McCrae, were selected for the South Carolina state swim team coached by Lynn Williams of Fort Mill.

• Fort Mill land owners were concerned over the possibility of a land claim lawsuit by the Catawba Tribe.

1972

• Announcement was made of the appointment of Floyd Foss to the long vacant position of chief of the Fort Mill Police Department.

• Debbie Mitchell was elected president of the Fort Mill Jaycee-ettes. Kitty Johnson was vice president.

• C.W. McGee, perhaps the best history, economics and civics teacher at Fort Mill High School in a generation or more, retired. McGee was also a retired Navy veteran.

• Earle Steele, 1968 George Fish High School graduate, was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Army at Fort Bragg, N.C.

1952

• A committee was formed to raise funds for the erection of a memorial tower in Unity Cemetery. The brick tower was to be 35 feet high and 8 feet square at the base.

• Dr. W.F. Duncan, Fort Mill dentist, was called into the Army and was stationed at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, where he held the rank of Captain.

1932

• Henry Lindsay, on the run after allegedly cutting his wife severely, was arrested by Chief Gamble.

• Perhaps as many as 300 people were present for the York County campaign meeting held under a large tent in Fort Mill.

1912

• Harry D. Harkey moved his barber shop and clothes cleaning business from the Post Office building to the new Belk building on Main Street.

• Quite a large crowd attended the annual Gold Hill picnic given in the grove near the home of S.H. Epps Sr.
