Fort Mill chiropractor Rob Cynowa named top volunteer

Cynowa named top volunteer

Dr. Rob Cynowa was recently named “Volunteer of the Year Award” by the York County Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Cynowa is a member of the International Chiropractic Association and has a practice in Fort Mill, the Complete Wellness Center.

His volunteer efforts include work with the Second Harvest food bank of the Carolinas, the Children’s Attention Home and We Can!

He also serves on the Tega Cay Area Council Board of Directors for the York County Regional Chamber and past board member for Our Home Town Connections. Previously he was named the Tega Cay Area Small Business Person of the Year by the regional chamber.

Jeff Updike, who nominated Cynowa, said, “While I was a patient of Dr. Cynowa’s, I learned of his Fam Jam festival, which he sponsors. He gathers all of the exhibitors, promotes the event, is heavily involved in set-up the day of and donates all of the proceeds to the Children’s Attention Home.

“Dr. Cynowa also holds many wellness training sessions and nutrition seminars at his office for the community. He is heavily involved in the chamber of commerce and became a Tega Cay board member several years ago. It is for these reasons and his community involvement that he was my choice to receive the award.”

The award is named for the founders of the Tega Cay Area Chamber of Commerce, Kitty and Bruce Updike.

Domtar honors soldier

Domtar’s operations center in Fort Mill was the site of the York County Regional Chamber of Commerce recent “Business After Five” reception. John Williams, Domtar’s president and CEO, briefly discussed Domtar’s operations in South Carolina, which include a mill in Bennettsville, a plant in Rock Hill and the Fort Mill center. Domtar employs about 1,000 people in the state.

Williams and Domtar honored Tech Sgt. Tom Ferrara of the South Carolina National Guard and a Domtar employee. Ferrara recently came back from a tour in Afghanistan.

Gun shop has new location

Fort Mill Gun Shop is moving into a new, larger location in downtown Fort Mill. The shop is holding a grand opening Sept. 1 at the new location, 237 Main St.
