Moms, dads, grandparents, youth and entire families made their way from Carolinas Cornerstone Church in Fort Mill to Garden City Savannah, Ga., to reach out to help others recently.
“We had one hundred and six people from our church spend a week helping families in a very low income trailer park as our mission trip,” said the Rev. Barry Yates.
“Repairs were made to the trailers of two families including floors, counters and cabinetry, bathroom repairs and decking,” added Yates.
“The children in the trailer park did not have a playground, so we put up swings, basketball hoops soccer goals, and painted a hop scotch game. Balls, Frisbees, and other toys were brought for the children in the neighborhood to enjoy.”
This is the second year local residents have gone to Savannah from the Carolinas Cornerstone Church, located on Gardendale Road, to provide assistance.
