DAR President design wins national
Ruth Reed is a NFHS student and also the newly elected president of the Fort Mill Society, Children of the American Revolution, sponsored by Nation Ford Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. She accepted the challenge of designing a magazine cover and had the winning entry in the C.A.R. Magazine’s Best Original Magazine Cover Design promoting the National Project.
The design was in keeping with the 2011-12 National Theme “Living the American Dream” and Project (of raising funds for Fisher House Foundation). Her art depicts the “ties that bind” via love and support by C.A.R. and its adviser organizations that is shown to military personnel and their families while at a Fisher House. The magazine is distributed internationally via subscription. She won over hundreds of entries from across the country.
