INDIAN LAND --
Indian Land sought to rebound from a disappointing 32-14 loss to the Blacksburg Wildcats. Instead, the Warriors are 0-3, losing to the Lewisville Lions 42-7.
The visiting Lions jumped to an early 14-0 lead after only seven minutes into the game. Quarterback Qua Walls threw touchdown passes to Cody Montgomery and Alan Jordan.
Defense kept the Warriors in the game during the first half. Manny McCord intercepted Wallss pass on the 33-yard line, but the Warriors were forced to settle for a field goal attempt but the kick was no good. On the ensuing Lewisville possession, Manny Delgado intercepted another pass from Walls on the 38-yard line, but the Warriors went three and out and were forced to punt.
Indian Lands final drive of the first half ended with another missed opportunity. After driving the ball into the red zone after a 30-yard catch from George Morris to Chris Barnes, the Warriors were unable to find the end zone and Chad Thomass field goal attempt was no good leaving the score 14-0 Lewisville at the half.
The second half proved no different for the Warriors, who were again unable to capitalize on opportunities. Lewisvilles first possession of the half resulted in an 80-yard drive and a Malcom Means rushing touchdown.
Indian Lands only points of the night came on the ensuing possession. DaQuan McClanahan took the kickoff 34 yards from the 10 yard line to Indian Land's own 44. Indian Lands drive was capped by a 25-yard touchdown run by Dominique Smith, bringing the score 21-7.
The Lions would add two more touchdowns before the night was over. Walls added a rushing touchdown and threw for another, hitting Tony Gaston for six, leaving the ending score 42-7.
