Faile is ‘the biggest asset’

I was surprised reading Ms. Coopers letter in the Fort Mill Times (July 25, 2012) regarding the need for a change in our Sheriff of Lancaster County. She was surprised some one would vote for a candidate because “we grew up together and we are good friends.” That is still a better reason than voting without knowing anything about a candidate’s accomplishments or the direction of the Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff Faile has been the biggest asset, as an elected official, this county has seen in a long time. His accomplishments are many and a strong one is leadership. That has been proven with the three officers that have received statewide recognition, as Deputy Sheriff of the Year by the S.C. Sheriff’s Association, for their outstanding duties at the sheriff’s office in Lancaster County. Neighborhood watches have grown and started communication between the residents and the sheriff’s office, greatly improving awareness in communities. Development of a CSI department started with grants, and growing from two officers to four and being extended for a longer period of time, made Lancaster one of only three law enforcements in S.C. to have this advanced investigation available. Patrol cruisers with 200,000 miles were replaced with new, reliable vehicles. Pay ladder was implemented, equal to or better than surrounding counties, in order to keep our trained deputies. Fighting for a computerized 911 system and a more modern facility has made for a safer more efficient Sheriff’s Department.

These are only a few of the many accomplishments Sheriff Barry Faile has done since taking office.

At the voting polls this November you will have to consider between a loving father, a veteran of Desert Storm and an ex DEA member or you will choose a proven educated crime fighter, knowledgeable in local neighborhood problems, domestic violence, robbery, and drugs, which I don’t believe “computer crimes, high-profile white collar crimes” are high on the list. Let Lancaster County continue improving our Sheriff’s Dept. and producing high quality deputies under the leadership of Sheriff Barry Faile.

We cannot afford to take steps backward in the safety of our lives and property.
