We celebrate diversity

We celebrate diversity

As it’s too often unknown until their teenage years, many students need programs like Pride Charlotte if only to find a safe place to go without being condemned for who they are as an individual. With issues of bullying, attacking, and the all too present mental negative energy of which these young people feel on a day to day basis, Pride Charlotte is a way to demonstrate to the community of all ages that they are not bad people for who they are and that “life gets better.”

I applaud those involved in the recent Pride Charlotte Festival. Some of my favorite things about living in the Greater Charlotte Area are the abundance of annual ethnic celebrations, which allow people the opportunity to find that sense of pride in themselves, and the additional added outreach which these festivals offer to the community.

They offer the opportunity for all of us to grow as individuals and to dispel those demos of prejudice which are often too apparent in our young people as well as their parents. Congratulations on celebrating diversity throughout the year. Terrific job to everyone who helped to make it possible.
