Police: “grossly intoxicated” man assaults woman, then kicks at deputies

FORT MILL --

A Fort Mill man remains jailed after allegedly grabbed a woman’s neck Thursday morning while drunk, according to a police report.

Deputies with the York County Sheriff’s Office found Simon Randy Johnson, 50, of Fort Mill a short time later after the woman called for help around 2:30 a.m. and also told deputies that $100 was missing, the report states. Deputies found marijuana in Johnson’s pocket, according to the report, and had $97 in cash. A clerk at a convenience store told another deputy that a man matching Johnson’s description had used a $100 bill in a transaction.

During arrest, Johnson was “uncooperative,” deputies said, and was “yelling, screaming, lunging and kicking at deputies.”

Johnson remains in the county jail under $1,560 bond on charges of petty larceny, drug possession, and assault and battery, jail records show.
