FORT MILL --
Students from Nation Ford High School gathered together last week for the sixth annual See You at the Pole prayer meeting in front of the school.
All students, regardless of church denomination or background, were welcomed to participate in the Sept. 26 event.
Some students viewed the event as an opportunity to help their school at a pivotal time.
See You at the Pole is an incredible time of prayer with the students of Nation Ford, junior Ben Drake said. In times such as these, it is so encouraging to be able to lift up our school, town, and fellow students to the Lord. To see the students come together like this is just so awesome.
Drake is a part of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes leadership team, which has sponsored the event each year.
The meeting, which lasted about 15 minutes, included both worship music and fellowship, but kept its central focus on prayer. During the prayer time, all the students gathered in a circle and held hands. Junior Jon Kesey began the prayer, followed by each of the rest of the students.
Sophomore FCA member Mackenzie Bailey enjoyed the opportunity to join her friends while freely expressing her relationship with Christ.
I love being able to get together with followers of Christ and lift up Gods name at our school. It really is incredible, she said.
See You at the Pole has been a national event since the 1990s when a group of students in Burleson, Texas, met to pray in front of their school. Students in public, private, and parochial schools across the United States and around the world participated.
