WANDO --
In its second competition of the season, the Fort Mill High School Marching Band took home top honors. The band competed in the Low Country Invitational at Wando High school against 20 bands from the Carolinas and Georgia.
Competing in Class 5A, the band won awards for Best Music, Best Percussion and Best Drum Majors. The band won first in its class with a score of 91.1 and was named the Overall Grand Champion, with the highest score among the 20 competing bands.
Next week the band faces one of its biggest challenges of the season at the Bands of America Regional Championship at the University of Akron. The band won the competition last year, the first time the band has won a BOA Regional Championship title. The band was only the third South Carolina band to win a BOA regional competition.
