Think ‘Pink’: Riverview kids want your vote for video contest

- joverman@fortmilltimes.com

FORT MILL --

Voting begins today for the Pink Glove Dance Video and Riverview Elementary School students hope to take home the top prize – a donation to the breast cancer charity of their choice.

Riverview’s video is posted on www.pinkglovedance.com along with other videos submitted for the competition. Visitors to the site can vote on their favorite video. Voting does require a Facebook page. The competition is sponsored by Medline Industries, Inc.

In early October, Riverview students gathered in the school cafeteria wearing all black and donned pink gloves. Students from Fort Mill High School’s broadcast journalism class videotaped the students as they danced to Katy Perry’s “Part of Me.”

“We decided to participate in the Pink Glove Dance Contest so that our students could have an opportunity to give back to our community by showing people with cancer that they care,” said Suzanne McLelland, Riverview’s school nurse.

“So, whether they win or not, the children at Riverview can know that without a doubt they have made a difference in this world.”
