Lynn Miller is a lady on a mission called Eagle Rock. Her hopes and dreams started with an idea, a therapeutic camp for the wounded warriors and their family.
She has almost fulfilled that dream. The camp will open on April 13.
Eagle Rock is a nonprofit, nondenominational, faith-based camp with an office in Indian Land. Miller has partnered with the Charlotte YMCA to use the YMCA Camp Harrison in Boomer, N.C. She is also in development stages with the USO.
Our wounded warriors, including those suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, will have a place to spend with their families in a great setting. There will be certified marriage counselors, family counseling, fun activities, character acting for children and so many other things. Eagle Rock Camp’s mission statement is to reconnect wounded warriors and their families in a traditional camp environment that is therapeutic and builds a healthy spirit and strong family relationships.
This is all done at no charge to the wounded warriors or their families.
Miller has a philosophy: “Believe in your dreams and they may come true. Believe in yourself and they will.”
On Oct. 28, a motorcycle rally will be held. The ride will stage at 9:30 a.m. at the Pat Rogers Speedway Harley Davidson in Concord, N.C., and ride to YMCA Camp Harrison. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., and kickstands go up at 10:30 a.m. Register online at evenbrite.com or email lmiller@eaglerockcamp.org.
Proceeds provide “camperships” so our military families attend camp at no cost to them.
What a wonderful thing to do.
