Iron Men’s Conference Nov. 17
The 2012 Iron Sharpens Iron Men’s Conference is taking place on Saturday, Nov. 17, at Steele Creek Church of Charlotte.

Church collecting gifts for kids
A number of churches and individuals in Lancaster County are participating in Operation Christmas Child this year. Each person or family fills an empty shoebox with such items as school supplies, toys, hygiene items, T-shirts, socks, ball caps, sunglasses, hair clips, toy jewelry and flashlights (with extra batteries). Gifts are chosen for boys and girls ages 2-14.
National Collection Week this year is Nov. 12-19. In Indian Land, Crossroads Lutheran Church, 8511 Shelley Mullis Road, serves as the drop-off site. The site will be open Monday, Nov. 12, through Saturday, Nov. 17, and Monday, Nov. 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18.
Lake Wylie Luthern hosts Christmas Bible school
Lake Wylie Lutheran Church, at the corner of Hwy160 West and Gold Hill Road, is hosting its annual Christmas Bible School 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1.
Children 3 years old (potty-trained) through the third grade are invited to join Lake Wylie Lutheran Church members as they celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. This celebration event will conclude at 1 p.m.
Christmas Bible School includes a combination of Bible stories, music, crafts and games. A morning snack and lunch will be served. Parents are encouraged to join at 12:45 p.m. to hear the children sing and learn about what the children experienced through the day. There will also be a cookie decorating social at 1 p.m. for those who would like to stay a while longer. Due to space limitations, registration will be limited. Go to www.lakewylutheran.org.
• As part of Christmas Bible School, the church will be collecting items for the Fort Mill Care Center. The Fort Mill Care Center is always in need of nonperishable food items and toiletries. Child-friendly items are greatly appreciated such as mac & cheese, canned pastas, soups, kid’s toothbrushes, kid’s toothpaste, tear-free shampoo, tear-free body wash, etc.
There is no cost to attend Christmas Bible School. Donations will be accepted.
Calvary Church offers Thanksgiving Communion service
Calvary warmly invites the community for a family evening of worship and thanksgiving at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, in the Sanctuary. Gather afterwards in the Galleria for coffee, warm spiced apple cider and pumpkin and pecan pie.
