Tega Cay book club hosts speaker
The Tega Cay Women’s Book Club Luncheon featuring speaker Tamela Rich, author of “Live Full Throttle: Life Lessons From Friends Who Faced Cancer” will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, at the Fish Market Restaurant in Baxter.

Genealogical society meets
The York County Genealogical and Historical Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, in the Fellowship Hall of Oakland Ave. Presbyterian Church, 421 Oakland Ave., Rock Hill.
Dr. Eric Emerson, director of the S.C. Department of Archives and the State Historic Preservation Officer, will be the speaker.
Attendees should enter the church from the parking lot on Park Avenue behind the church.
Fort Mill Lions Club invites new members
The Fort Mill Lions Club meets the first and third Tuesday of the month at Unity Hall in Unity Presbyterian Church with dinner served at 7 p.m. The meetings begin at 7:30 p.m., ending around 8:15 p.m.

Christmas home tour in York
Come to York for the 30th annual holiday tour of historic homes and buildings, sponsored by the Yorkville Historical Society. The tour will be Saturday, Dec. 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 9, from 3 to 7 p.m.
Six historic homes and two local businesses will be decorated for the holidays and open for viewing. Refreshments will be served at the Greater York Chamber of Commerce. More special events may be scheduled, including a visit from Santa.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Chamber, 23 E. Liberty St.; the Men’s Shop, 49 N. Congress St.; or at any of the homes on the days of the tour. For more information, call Denise Eakin at 803-230-4811.
Waxhaw Woman’s Club plans tour
The Waxhaw Woman’s Club has scheduled its biennial Holiday Tour of Homes for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, and Saturday, Dec. 8.

Beta Sigma Phi is here to help
Beta Sigma Phi, an international women’s sorority, has a chapter in Fort Mill. The sorority is nonacademic with 200,000 members in chapters around the world and 30 members in Fort Mill and Tega Cay (Epsilon Epsilon Chapter).
They hold two annual charity drives: one in the fall to raise money for Fort Mill Care Center and one in the spring to raise money for Foundation for Fort Mill Schools.

Vintage Club lowers minimum age
Any resident of Tega Cay who is at least 50 years old can join the Vintage Club. This includes a couple even if only one of them is 50 or older.
Monthly meetings are held at the Glennon Center in Tega Cay, providing more room for diners and additional members. The club meets on the last Wednesday of each month at 6:15 p.m. at the Glennon Center and holds a variety of outings and activities. Dues are $15 per person a year and the dinners each month are $21 per person, including tax and gratuity.

Alateen meetings for teens affected by others’ drinking issues
Weekly Alateen meetings are held from 8 to 9 p.m. Thursdays. It’s a 12-step meeting for children and teens whose lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking. The group offers meetings for ages 6-12 and 13-19.

Support for incest survivors available
A support group for victims of incest meets in Indian Land. Sarah Harrison, an expert peer counselor in the field and the author of “You Love Your Daddy, Don’t You?,” a book about her own childhood incest, hosts the group.

Woman’s Club of Fort Mill helps kids celebrate
The Woman’s Club of Fort Mill in conjunction with the Boys and Girls Club of Fort Mill, hosts a monthly birthday party for the 53 children in the club.
Each child participates, and those whose birthdays fall during that month are given a book as a birthday gift from the Woman’s Club. All of the children are treated to cupcakes, ice cream, juice and chips to make it a real celebration. In addition to the birthday party, Jordane Reid, director of the Fort Mill branch of the BGC presents to a boy and a girl a “Youth of the Month” certificate recognizing them for outstanding citizenship.
