New auto repair shop opens

Steve’s Auto Repair is open for business at 1431 East Tom Hall St. (Hwy. 160 East) in Fort Mill at the Valero station.

The shop, which opened Friday, services all makes and models and promises “quality repairs at a reasonable price” by ASE certified technicians. Business hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Continental Tire named ‘best place to work’

Continental Tire of the Americas was recently recognized by the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce as a “Best Place to Work.”

Continental competed in the large business category, which consists of businesses of more than 250 full-time employees. The awards recognize companies with benefits, policies and practices that are among the best in the area. Awards are determined by an evaluation of the work environment, which is based on an employee survey managed by a third party.

Continental’s corporate headquarters are located in Indian Land just off of Hwy. 160. The company employs about 400 people in region. Continental is also building a new manufacturing facility in Sumter that will create 1,600 jobs.

Due to the significant growth in the business, Continental recently invested $4 million in an 16,000 square-foot expansion of its Lancaster County headquarters. The investment also includes the creation of 80 new jobs at the headquarters location over the next four years.

Comporium launches new channels

Comporium has recently launched 30 high definition channels and seven standard definition channels. this week.

Seven new standard definition channels went to the Digital Variety Pack: TVOne, Crime &Investigation, ReelzChannel, RLTV, Nat Geo Wild, Military History and FOX Soccer Plus.

The HD Variety Pack received 30 new high definition channels, which include the following: TVOne HD, G4 HD, BBC America HD, Hallmark Movie Chanel HD, Biography Channel HD, Style HD, OWN HD, Oxygen HD, WE HD, HSN HD, QVC HD, Travel Channel HD, Cooking Channel HD, DIY Network HD, Nat Geo Wild HD, H2 HD, Sprout HD, Tennis Channel HD, FOX Soccer Plus HD, Fuel TV HD, The Outdoor Channel HD, Sportsman Channel HD, Headline News HD, TBN HD, Halogen HD, BET HD, Cinemax HD, TMC HD, Starz HD, and Encore HD.

Food Lion emphasizes fruit, veggies

Food Lion has launched a new initiative in stores, focusing on improved quality, enhanced freshness and expanded variety of produce. Fresh fruits and vegetables now come with a double-your-money-back guarantee, and customers will soon find tips in-store for keeping produce fresher longer at home. Among the stores participating area locations, including Fort Mill and Indian Land.

Knights hosts ‘Winter Wonderland’

The Charlotte Knights are holding their first “Winter Wonderful” event, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Dec. 8 at Knights Stadium. The event will feature a toy and coat drive, a tree lot, arts and crafts for children, face painting, holiday music and the appearance by Santa Claus.

The event will take place in the Knights Stadium picnic area, which will be covered in snow. Fans are asked to enter through the picnic area gate located in Lot 6.

Fans unable to make the event can stop by Knights Stadium to donate a toy or coat during regular business hours (Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.). The last day to donate will be on Friday, Dec. 21.
