Fort Mill Town Manager choice turns down offer; Search back on
FORT MILL --
The Fort Mill Town Council called a meeting for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, to discuss the search for a new town manager.
According to the agenda, the meeting will begin with a public comment session before Council convenes to its chambers for a closed-door executive session.
Council held an executive session Saturday to interview three finalists for the job and according to town spokesperson Kimberly Starnes, later "voted to authorize Mayor Danny Funderburk to make an offer of employment" to Abbeville City Manager Nolan Wiggins Jr. However, "Mr. Wiggins and the Town of Fort Mill were unable to come to terms."
The other finalists were current Fort Mill Assistant Town Manager Joe Cronin and Beaufort County Deputy County Administrator Bryan Hill.
Current, longtime Town Manager David Hudspeth gave his notice this past summer and will be stepping down effective Feb. 1.
