Foster a pet this Christmas

Foster a pet

this Christmas

This Christmas, remember pets in need

’Tis the season and we are all rushing around buying gifts for family and friends and trying not to forget anyone. When you are in the pet aisle of your favorite store and as you reach for that Christmas stocking full of toys and treats for that “special” family member, please stop and think a minute about the homeless pets in your local animal shelter; they will never see a stocking full of love.

When you sit down to your Christmas dinner of ham or turkey or roast beef and you surreptitiously slip a juicy bit of meat to the pet sitting lovingly at your feet, please stop and think about the homeless pets who will not know the warmth of hearth or home this season, or the loving touch of a human being.

In this season of giving and good will celebrating the birth of the Christ child, is there not room in your home and your heart to help a pet in need?

Pet rescue groups cannot do this alone; we all need the help of foster families who can open up their hearts to a homeless pet for a few weeks. We of the Humane Society of Lancaster will pay for the pets’ food and medical care. All we ask is a family to give the pet a temporary home until a forever one can be found. We ask that you help us save some lives this holiday season.

You’ll receive the best gift: knowledge that you took a pet off death row and gave it a chance at life. Please contact us at 803-289-9820 or any rescue group to give the gift of life this holiday season. We and the pets would be forever grateful.
