Scouts do work that’s sadly needed; Make Lady Bird proud

Make Lady Bird proud

Recently, Boy Scout Troop 219 performed a community service and picked up trash along a two-mile stretch of Gold Hill Road. A few weeks before that, Girl Scout Troop 849 did the same along different roads.

I thank them and the countless other Scout units and civic organizations that do this in the Fort Mill area and across the county, the state and the nation for their efforts. However, it saddens me that such voluntary work is even necessary. Let us all do our part to keep America beautiful and make “Lady Bird” Johnson proud.
