Women’s study starts at Crossroads

The Women’s Discussion Group/Study of Crossroads Lutheran Church, 8511 Shelley Mullis Road, Indian Land, will begin the study of “Christianity and World Religions” by Adam Hamilton at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19.

Temple Kol Ami holds Tu B’Shevat Seder

Join Temple Kol Ami on Friday night, Jan. 25, for Tu B’Shevat “The New Year for Trees.” This is when the earliest-blooming trees in Israel emerge from the winter and begin a new fruit-bearing cycle. The Shabbat evening will begin with a potluck dinner at 6:15 p.m. followed by the Friday night Kabbalat Shabbat service at 7 p.m. led by new Rabbi Yosef Levanon. It will conclude with the Tu B’Shevat Seder.

Forever Friends meets monthly

Forever Friends is a praise and worship program for adults with disabilities and special needs ages 18 years and older. It is sponsored by Grace Community United Methodist Church and meets from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on the third Thursday of every month. Grace Community Church is located at 1190 Gold Hill Road in Fort Mill. See the light with Aglow

Aglow, a transdenominational organization of Christian women, meets 6 to 8 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month in room 228 (near Western Wear) at Plaza Fiesta on Carowinds Boulevard, Fort Mill.

Aglow groups are in approximately 165 nations around the world with more than 1,400 local groups in the U.S. The heart of the organization is local fellowship. Small groups studies, care (support) groups, retreats and annual conferences make up the Aglow year. It is a network of caring women as well as a faith-building organization. The Community Café offers free weekly lunches at Lake Wylie Lutheran Church at the corner of S.C. 160 West and Gold Hill Road in Fort Mill, near Tega Cay.

Mothers of Preschoolers, an international, nondenominational Christian organization, meets at First Baptist Church, 121 Monroe White St., Fort Mill.

United Churches offer reading program

The United Churches of Fort Mill has organized “The Paradise Reading Center, Changing the lives of Families through Reading.”

The objective is to improve literacy in the Fort Mill community with hopes of improving school performance, as well as adult literacy.

The host site is Bethlehem Baptist Church, 601 Joe Louis St., Fort Mill, and the hours are 5 to 6 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays beginning Jan. 3. Volunteers are welcome.

Young Life of York County is at work with teens in the community, providing leaders to help them make wise decisions.

Young Life is a Christian ministry committed to making an impact on kids’ lives and giving them hope for tomorrow. Founded in 1941, Young Life leaders build positive relationships with young people in order to model and communicate the truth about Jesus Christ. Young Life reaches suburban, urban and multicultural kids as well as kids with disabilities and teenage mothers.

Sisk has clothes to give away

The Clothes Closet Ministry of Sisk Memorial Baptist Church is open on the second and fourth Thursday and the third Saturday of each Month.

Clothing is available to all without cost. Donations can be made on Tuesday and Friday and left on the front porch. Clean, gently used clothing only. No shoes or household items.
