S.C. Strawberry Festival named 'Event of the Year'

FORT MILL --

The S.C. Strawberry Festival was recognized as South Carolina’s Event of the Year for the second straight year and won the Best Non-Print Media award for its TV ads during the annual South Carolina Festival and Event Planners Conference and Trade Show Monday.

“It is outstanding to be recognized,” Mayor Danny Funderburk said in a statement released by the town. “The South Carolina Strawberry Festival is an event that keeps bringing home gold because of its ongoing quality. This recognition is a testament to the individuals and committee who work so hard on the festival each year.”

“It’s an honor for the Strawberry Festival to be recognized by our peers and industry experts as South Carolina’s Event of the Year for the second consecutive year,” said Joe Cronin, assistant town manager and 2012 Strawberry Festival Marketing Team Leader. “This award is a testament to the quality and commitment of our planning committee, volunteers and event sponsors. We have set a high standard for our event, and we look forward to building on this success in 2013 and beyond."

The South Carolina Event of the Year award is presented annually by the South Carolina Festival and Events Association to the most outstanding festival or event in the state. Accepting the award on behalf of the S.C. Strawberry Festival Planning Committee were Wink Rea, 2013 South Carolina Strawberry Festival Chairman; Joe Cronin, 2012 Marketing Team Leader; and Kimberly Starnes, Events and Media Coordinator for the Town of Fort Mill.
