FORT MILL TOWNSHIP --
From outside Beef O’Brady’s Wednesday, Fort Mill Middle students could be heard cheering on their teachers who were engaged in a competition that’s probably more common in the school cafeteria.
As part of Fort Mill Middle’s Spirit Night at the restaurant, three teachers – Jennifer Wilkes, Dave Richards and Bob Knight – went head-to-head in a hot wing eating contest and fundraiser. Dozens of students and parents came to watch the competition, and a percentage of each family’s bill was donated to the school.
Wilkes, who teaches sixth grade, won the competition by finishing off an entire basket of 10 wings in mere minutes. She was swarmed by cheering students and parents, but the rest of the faculty in attendance was looking forward to using the $368.71 raised by the event.
The money will be used for supplies.
Beef O’Brady’s has raised thousands of dollars for Fort Mill schools over the years with Spirit Night events.
