Seven experts on gardening will be featured during the eighth annual Joy of Gardening Symposium Feb. 23, at the Baxter Hood Center, York Technical College, in Rock Hill.
Patrick McMilllan, Ph.D., director of Clemson University’s Campbell Museum of Natural History and host of SCETV’s award-winning nature program, and Larry Mellichamp, Ph.D., director of the UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens, will be the opening and closing speakers, respectively.
Speaking in concurrent sessions will be noted gardening authorities Pam Beck, Carol Buie-Jackson, Amanda McNulty, David Powell and Paul Thompson. They will cover topics ranging from how to create a bird sanctuary in your back yard to the “Dirt on Dirt.”
Eighteen vendors will offer plants, gardening books and other items during the event.
The Joy of Gardening Symposium is sponsored by the Master Gardeners of York County.
Registration will open at 8 a.m. The $50 fee includes lunch and drawings for door prizes.
