Fort Mill woman, Rock Hill man charged with manufacturing, trafficking meth in Rock Hill

ROCK HILL -- 

Two people were charged with manufacturing and trafficking liquid methamphetamine after drug agents accused them of keeping the drug in the trunk of a borrowed car while they were at a Rock Hill Target last week.

Bryant Christian Ingram, 27, of 1120 Sturgis St. in Rock Hill, and 32-year-old Maria Bernadette Garcia, of 130 Harris St. in Fort Mill, were both charged with manufacturing meth, manufacturing meth in proximity to a park, trafficking meth and possession of meth with intent to distribute in proximity to a park, according to a York County Sheriff’s report.

Agents received a call from a woman who said she was worried Ingram and Garcia had meth in her car, which she let them borrow, while they were at the Target in Rock Hill, just a half-mile away from Manchester Meadows Park, around 12 p.m. last Wednesday, said Jim Lubben, Rock Hill commander for the county’s multijurisdictional drug unit.

Authorities tracked Ingram and Garcia to the parking lot of the Budget Motel on South Anderson Road, where they were arrested, the report states. A hazmat team removed 180 grams of meth —a significant amount, Lubben said —from the trunk of the car.

The car owner was not with Garcia and Ingram at the time, he said.

The meth was still in liquid form, Lubben said, and wasn’t yet converted to powder. It was unclear if Ingram and Garcia were using the car as a mobile meth lab, or just carrying the drug in the car.

When agents come across chemicals, “we always call the hazmat crew to dispose of anything potentially harmful to the community,” Lubben said.
