Nation Ford faces top tennis teams in Florence
FLORENCE --
The Nation Ford High School boys’ tennis team played in the three-day Florence Tennis Association Preseason High School Tennis Tournament this past weekend.
The Falcons, ranked in the top 10 in S.C. heading into this season, played four matches, winning one, 4-2 over Wilson. In that match, the singles results are as follows: No. 1 Stephen Zoeller won 6-4, 6-1; No. 2 Chase Mahrlig lost 4-6 6-3 (9-11); No. 3 Ben Herman won 6-3, 6-2; No. 4 Chris Tapp lost 5-7, 2-6; No. 5 Raj Dwivedi won 6-2, 6-2.
Also, in second doubles, the tandem of David Habbick/Jonathan Habbick won 6-1, 6-1.
In other matches, Nation Ford dropped a close one, 4-3, to The Elon School of Burlington, N.C., which is the four-time defending N.C. State ISAA champion.
