Temple Kol Ami presents Dr. Joel M. Hoffman
Thanks to a grant from the Jewish Federation Community Impact Fund, Temple Kol Ami, which meets at Unity Presbyterian Church, 303 Tom Hall Street Fort Mill, will present Dr. Joel M. Hoffman on Friday and Saturday March 15-16.
Temple Kol Ami will have a Torah study at 10 a.m. March 16, Lunch and Learn at 1 p.m. that day and at 7:30 p.m. Dr. Hoffman will do a presentation on one of his many topics, some of which include “The Bible Doesn’t Say That,” “The Mystery and Majesty of the Dead Sea Scrolls,” “What the Prayers Really Mean,” and “What If I Don’t Like What the Hebrew Means?”
New kids’ and women’s program begin at High Ground Church
Higher Ground Church, 8365 Possum Hollow Road, Indian Land, kicks off its new Children’s Sunday evening program Kids for Christ. Tammy Therrell will lead the children in Bible study, music, worship and activities.
The program will be every Sunday evening 5-6 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Kindergarten to fifth graders in the community are invited to attend.
• The Ladies’ Ministry at Higher Ground will be facilitating a morning Bible study titled, “Do you think I am beautiful?” by Angela Thomas. This Bible study will begin on Tuesday, March 12, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., and will be for seven weeks. The community is invited to attend the morning study.

Temple Solel holding Shabbat services at St. Phillip Neri
Temple Solel, a Reform Jewish Congregation, is holding Shabbat Services as well as religious schooling at St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church at 292 Munn Road in Fort Mill. Services are held in the Ministry Building adjacent to the Fellowship Hall.
The next service will be this Friday at 7 p.m.
Services are held 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Fridays of the month. The first service of the month is a Kabbalat Shabbat. The second is a Midrash Shabbat, or learners Shabbat. The Ritual committee is creating a program that includes prayer along with a topic of discussion that may include a speaker.
Religious School is held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays using the curriculum of the Goldring/Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life. The Religious School includes children from Kindergarten through B’nai Mitzvah training.

United Churches offer community reading program
The United Churches of Fort Mill has organized “The Paradise Reading Center, Changing the lives of Families through Reading.”
The objective is to improve literacy in the Fort Mill community with hopes of improving school performance, as well as adult literacy.
The host site is Bethlehem Baptist Church, 601 Joe Louis St., Fort Mill, and the hours are 5 to 6 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays beginning Jan. 3. Volunteers are welcomed.

Young Life is a Christian ministry committed to making an impact on kids’ lives and giving them hope for tomorrow.
