Fort Mill residents call 911 to report gunshots; 2 arrested

— Fort Mill Police arrested two men they said had a handgun and marijuana in their car after callers reported a someone in a vehicle firing a gun, according to a Fort Mill Police report.

The incident began at around 1 a.m. March 23 when 911 callers reported hearing gunshots coming from a car. Police stopped a white sedan on Williamson Street that matched callers’ description. Police allegedly found a handgun inside the car and a backpack inside which marijuana was stashed, according to the report.

Police also alleged the two men inside the car had an odor of alcohol and were both arrested, according to the report. They are identified as Jonathan Fleming, 27, of Indian Land, and Joseph Wilson, 27, of Fort Mill. Fleming, identified by police as the driver, was charged with DUI. They both were charged with possession of marijuana.

It’s unclear if they will also face charges related to the alleged gunshots.
