Play ball! Media members take their hacks at Knights Stadium

— The Charlotte Knights opened their stadium for Knights Fest on Saturday.

The day’s festivities included batting practice for fans, tryouts for National Anthem singers, appearances by team mascots Homer and Caroline and a softball game played by members of the media, including the Fort Mill Times. Before the game, the team unveiled its newest attraction – a cheerleading squad.

Media members were split into two teams – Homer’s Homey’s and Caroline’s Crew. The Homey’s, behind the pitching of Fort Mill Times reporter John Marks, won 5-1 in a game that was supposed to be three innings but went to six.
